CORNER MARSHALING AND ALL ITS
MYSTERIES
It seems that some riders are still confused by corner marshaling.
It’s quite simple….. When the ride leader intends to make a turn from
the road they are travelling on, to another road, they first make an
indicator signal to show the intended direction of their turn. Then they
will make a hand signal by pointing at the side of the road where they
suggest the following rider should pull over, and also use their
indicator, to show the direction of the turn taken by the ride leader. A
“Tail-End-Charlie” (T-E-C) is appointed before the ride leaves the
meeting place (it’s usually Dave and Erica in the silver Falcon).
The T-E-C will signal to the corner marshal , usually by flashing their
head lights , to continue in the same direction as the other riders ,
leaving in front of the T-E-C . Some riders see this as an opportunity to
speed past the other riders so they can corner marshal again.
Ulysses Club Inc suggests that you ride safely , and within the road
rules so it is you own decision where you stop to corner marshal and
how you continue your ride , the ride leader is only making a
suggestion of your marshaling point and if you don’t think that it’s
safe , don’t stop , simply choose another location that YOU think is
safe . Remember that you are the one holding the handlebars and are
responsible for your own safety.
If the ride leader is opening a gap in front of a slower second place rider
and you feel that you can overtake safely it is allowed. Some newer
riders are uncomfortable about overtaking others and there’s nothing
worse when you are leading a ride than having to stop and wait for the
following group to catch up, especially when you are already doing 20
kHz under the speed limit and number 2 is asleep.
As always…..
Fill life with experiences, not excuses…..

Remembrance Garden
Hello,
We are not sure if you are aware that a Remembrance Garden has been
established at Pie in the Sky Cafe, Pacific Highway, Cowan.
This garden is for family and friends of motorbike riders who have lost their
lives.
A plaque for their loved one can be placed in the garden. At this point of time
there is only one plaque which is in memory of our son, Kristian Lee, and also
a memorial for Alan Hales.
At Road Warriors before it was sold a memorial garden was there with about 4
plaques so others may be interested to know that this has been done.
If you could just let the Club know that this Garden has been established it
would be greatly appreciated.
