Situated in Mount Gambier, South Australia, the Limestone Coast boasts the beautiful Blue Lake as its star attraction. During November to March the lake turns to a majestic blue colour.

Mount Gambier is built on the slopes of an extinct volcano which is comprised of three craters -one of which contains the famous Lake.

The city and district also has many dry limestone caves including the famous Tantanoola and Princess Margaret Rose Caves, as well as numerous wet caves and sinkholes which are known worldwide amongst the cave diving fraternity. Some of these were used in the 3D film "Sanctum".

To the North is historic Penola and the world-famous vignerons of Coonawarra. To the South  is Port MacDonnell, Australia's Southern Rock Lobster capital and the peaceful Glenelg River.

To the East is the port of Portland and beautiful Bridgewater Bay and to the West is Millicent, with its facinating Windfarm, and the coastal towns of Beachport, Robe and Kingston.

The picturesque countryside allows enjoyable relaxing riding through grazing and cropping properties spread amongst pine forests, and bluegum plantations and scrubland.

WEEKLY NEWS UPDATES

Rides and Events Report

Friday 27th Jan: Bi-monthly Dinner. The dinner at the Gambier Hotel was well attended with 23 local members and one Ulyssian, Tom Rundle, who had ridden down from Queensland. Tom will also be attending the Beach of a Rally. The food was of a high standard and the comradarie great as usual. We also took the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of Terry Seebohm and Giovanna Reato. Because of the timing of the Mildura AGM the next Friday dinner meeting has been scheduled for April 27th.

Sunday 29th Jan: Ladies Choice Ride.
The following report was prepared by Petra Seebohm-

We set out at 9.00am with 16 riders - 4 lady riders. Weather a bit hot, but ride via Donovan was good. Sad to say Murray Robinson had an encounter with a bee or wasp. Whilst dealing with this and stopping on the side of the road, just past 8-mile creek, he had the misfortune of dropping his bike and fracturing his collarbone.
After been taken to MtG hospital by ambulance, the ride proceeded to Periwinkles. Some went on to Beachport after coffee and rest of riders went home. Murray was discharged from hospital late in the afternoon
