Vale Stephen Dearnley, Old Number 1

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the National Committee announces the passing of our founding member, Old Number 1, Stephen Dearnley.  As can be appreciated, it is a sad time for his family and those close to him.

Knowing the love that members have for Stephen, the family realises the many cards and condolence messages will follow. In respect of their privacy and sadness at this time, the National Committee asks that all condolences be sent via the National Administration Office.

Although Stephen’s funeral will be a private affair for family and invited friends, the National Committee advises that a memorial service will be held at the Mildura AGM Event 2012.  We hope that the membership can be there to celebrate the life and legacy that this man leaves.

Please appreciate this is a difficult time for all.  A tribute page to Stephen is available in the Members’ area of the National Site.

On behalf of the National Committee

Vale Gary FRANKLIN

I received sad news late last night that the 64 yr rider that had motorcycle accident near Beaudesert Friday afternoon and later died in hospital from his injuries is Gary FRANKLIN. Gary was originally living in Mudgeeraba and rode his Gold Wing with the GC Ulysses from time to time. He recently moved to acreage at Boonah. Gary was returning home from the Bike Expo when he had the accident about 3:40 pm.

BUT, on this Saturday 25th Feb, friends are meeting at Kalbar Hotel about 3 - 3:30  pm to ride & or drive to Gary's property where all are welcome for a commemoration bbq. Anyone wishing to stay the night can throw out a swag or tent too. Gary's wife and sons welcome all.

Please pass the news around to GC Ulysses members. Some may remember him & want to ride out to Kalbar then join the ride/drive to Gary's home. I know it will be late in the day to return home, but again they are welcome to stay.
